Shomari A Moorehead

President
Hails from: St. Croix

Shomari A. Moorehead, serves as President of the Virgin Islands Association of Georgia. He attended St. Croix’s Central High School and is an alum of St. Joseph High School. Shomari holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science along with a Master of Science in Computer Information Systems, with a concentration in Knowledge Management. His career has centered primarily in cross industry user experience consulting and software design. Shomari worked for IBM for seven years and is now the Owner and Solutions Manager of CrucianPoint Consulting. Shomari is a member of the board of directors of the St. Croix Foundation and St. Croix Landmarks Society. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Outside of professional interests, he enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.

Erica Chery

Vice-President
Hails from: St. Thomas

Erica Hendricks-Chery, serves as Vice President of the Virgin Islands Association of Georgia. She is a native of St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands, and an alumna of Charlotte Amalie High School. Erica holds a Bachelor of Arts in Hotel Management along with a Master of Science in Hotel and Food Service Management, with concentrations in Finance and Strategy. Her career has centered in the hospitality industry with a focus on strategic planning & implementation and performance analysis. Erica’s community and professional affiliations include Junior Achievement, Women in Lodging, Women in Technology, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Outside of professional interests, she enjoys a good party, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Antoinette Hazelwood

Treasurer
Hails from: St. Thomas

Antoinette Hazelwood-Williams, Board Chairperson, serves as the Treasurer and Financial Chair of the Virgin Islands Association of Georgia.  She is a native of St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands, and an alumna of Ivanna Eudora Kean High School.  She holds her Funeral Directors and Embalmers Science degree and is currently affiliated with Willie A. Watkins Funeral Home services. Antoinette has over eleven years of experience as a Senior Certified Mortgage Consultant and Financial Advisor within the real estate industry. She is now a self-employed Independent Loan Signing Agent/Notary and CEO of AMH Notary Consulting Services.

Henrietta Griffin-Miller

Secretary
Hails from: St. Croix

Henrietta V. Griffin Miller, Board Chairperson, serves as Secretary of the Virgin Islands Association of Georgia. She is a native of St.Croix, United States Virgin Islands, and an alumna of St. Croix Central High School. She holds her Medical Billing and Coding Certification and currently works as a Biller/Surgical Coordinator within the medical and healthcare industry. She is CEO and Founder of Amaiya Helping Hands Foundation and Working with Faith Ministry, Inc., a non-profit organization that provides outreach service to homeless shelters and low income families within the metro Atlanta areas of Georgia. Henrietta enjoys spending time with her family and serving her community.

Farisa James

Parliamentarian
Hails from: St. Thomas

Farisa Z. James, Board Chairperson, serves as Parliamentarian and Membership Chair of the Virgin Islands Association of Georgia. She is a native of St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands, and an alumna of Charlotte Amalie High School. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting along with a Master of Business Administration in Organizational Management, with Project Management and Process Improvement concentrations.  Her career has centered primarily in the accounting and insurance industries.  Farisa’s community and professional affiliations include Hands on Atlanta, The American Society for Quality (ASQ), National Black MBA Association Inc. (NBMBAA), and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Outside of professional interests, she enjoys the arts, outreach service, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Naeemah Charles

Public Relations
Hails from: St. Croix

Naeemah Charles, a St. Croix native, moved to Georgia in 1995 and has worked as a Women’s Health nurse at Grady Memorial Hospital for 16 years.

Naeemah joined the former Virgin Islands Association of Atlanta in 2001 as a member on the fundraising committee and is the owner of Beyond Nuptials, an event planning business.

Naeemah formed the Atlanta Heritage Dancers quadrille group in 2010 which currently has about 30 active members, and performs at numerous Caribbean events throughout the year. An extraordinary cook, Naeemah indulges tastebuds during Atlanta Caribbean Carnival each year, with Crucian Cuisine, her highly sought after catering company and food booth.

Naeemah is the founder of Sisters Loving and Supporting Sisters, a close-knit group, where she conducts self-improvement workshops and coordinates community service projects with other ladies and young girls from the Virgin Islands.

Naeemah’s passion is sharing the Virgin Islands culture and promoting unity among our people.
